Recognition highlights infrastructure and economic development readiness for international investment
The East Montgomery County Improvement District (EMCID) is proud to announce that it earned recertification and a 93 percent score through the Transatlantic Business and Investment Council (TBIC) Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) Qualified Community certification program, the highest score in the TBIC network.
The FDI-Qualified Community certification recognizes communities that demonstrate the readiness and capacity to attract, secure and retain foreign direct investment while competing in an increasingly global economy. EMCID has been an FDI-Qualified Community since 2019.
Thirteen economic development organizations across the nation are certified. EMCID’s 93 percent score places East Montgomery County at the top of the TBIC network and reinforces the community’s growing reputation as an FDI-ready destination. Within EMCID’s boundaries, population has increased by 16.6 percent, and the regional Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has grown 27.90 percent annually over the last two years, with a current population of 103,742.
“East Montgomery County has once again demonstrated what it means to be truly FDI-ready,” said Matthias Beier, President & CEO of TBIC. “By improving upon an already outstanding certification result, EMCID has reaffirmed its position as the highest-scoring TBIC FDI-Certified Community in the United States. The evaluation highlighted three key strengths: an exceptional workforce and talent pipeline, outstanding connectivity and logistics infrastructure and a highly engaged economic development team committed to attracting international business. East Montgomery County continues to set the benchmark for communities seeking to attract and support foreign direct investment.”
The certification evaluates communities holistically, including:
- Infrastructure and business readiness
- Workforce preparedness
- Community leadership
- Cultural competence and intercultural communication
- The ability to attract and retain international investment
This score sends a clear message to prospective investors: East Montgomery County is ready to compete for global business and investment. The community’s workforce, infrastructure, connectivity and economic development leadership provide international companies with the confidence and resources needed to establish, expand and grow their operations.
“This certification reflects the strength of our community and our commitment to being ready when international companies are looking for their next place to invest and grow,” said Frank McCrady, President & CEO of EMCID. “Our 93 percent score is an important milestone, but more importantly, it demonstrates that East Montgomery County has the assets, talent and leadership to compete for investment on a global scale.”
