The East Montgomery County Improvement District will hold its annual Law Enforcement Appreciation Dinner Monday, February 23 at the EMCID Complex, 21575 U.S. Highway 59 North in New Caney, at 7 p.m. This year’s keynote speaker is former boxer and Golden Gloves Champion Maurice “Termite” Watkins.
Nicknamed Termite because of his family’s pest control business in Houston, Watkins volunteered to work as an exterminator in Iraq during the Iraqi war. He was later recruited to train and assemble an Iraqi boxing team that advanced to the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece.
The event is open to the public. Tickets are $20 per person. Seating is limited. Please RSVP to Sandy Seelye, Events Coordinator, at 281.354.4419 no later than Friday, February 13.
