The feeling of wind blowing across the faces of drivers as they make their way around the track at New Caney’s Speedsportz Racing Park may be enough to incite the competitive spirit in many especially if they are co-workers used to battling it out in the boardroom.
In the year-and-a-half since it opened, Speedsportz Racing Park has grown in popularity with businesses seeking to use the park for corporate events, guests racing go-karts for social parties such as a bachelor or bachelorette party and the public satisfying their need for speed.
“This is something totally unique that corporations and businesses can’t do at many places,” said Alan Rudolph, owner of Speedsportz Racing Park. “Business owners are always looking for something different and that is what we provide. Our guests can expect to have fun and leave the racing park with a smile on their faces. If you want to get your sales staff pumped up about selling, bring them here and their competitive spirit comes alive.”
According to Rudolph, the businesses will use their meeting spaces, eat a meal, race on the track and follow it up with a dinner or cocktail reception.
“Our go-kart racing can be a team building experience,” said Rudolph. “One of our favorite activities to do during our corporate events is the Team Enduro which is like an endurance race where team members change drivers in a relay race style of competition. This is really exciting and is a fun team-building challenge.”
Several local companies including The Vision Source and Insperity have used Speedsportz Racing Park for their corporate events, giving employees the chance to ride go-karts, enjoy appetizers in one of the facility’s party rooms and create camaraderie between the employees.
“Our tagline for the upcoming holidays is ‘no more boring holiday parties;’ we encourage companies interested in booking their party with us to act soon since we are booking up quickly,” said Rudolph.
A first of its kind in the Houston area as well as the United States, Rudolph wanted to open Speedsportz Racing Park in the New Caney area to bring a high-speed playground where the public, who wear helmets, have the chance to drive go-karts around the track and enjoy time with their friends and family.
“One of the most fun groups we have had to drive the go-karts was a group of ladies, who had a great time, driving around the track and racing,” Rudolph added. “We can also host charity nights for nonprofit organizations where they will receive a portion of the proceeds. We want our community to know that Speedsportz Racing Park is open to the public; come to check us out.”
Speedsportz Racing Park offers multiple services simultaneously such as a rental kart track that is open to the public, a professional racing track, club memberships with 36-member garages that are currently all rented and a retail area selling karts, equipment and parts.
Rudolph also added they have converted public drivers to the professional racing track where they learn track safety through the Alan Rudolph Racing Academy.
Speedsportz Racing Park was the first major attraction to open within the Grand Texas development in East Montgomery County, at the junction of U.S. Highway 59 and State Highway 242 with the Grand Texas RV Park not far behind them. Two other attractions – Big Rivers Waterpark and Gator Bayou Adventure Park – have not set opening dates yet but expect to open in spring 2019.
“Not everyone plays golf, but at the end of the day, everyone drives so we provide the public the chance to get out a drive a go-kart, have fun and maybe even let out a little steam like they cannot do out on the road,” said Rudolph.
