The East Montgomery County Improvement District (EMCID) is comprised of 158 square miles and located 20 miles northeast of downtown Houston along Interstate 69/U.S. Highway 59, amid robust population growth in the region’s northeast quadrant. All cities in the EMCID are within the Houston–The Woodlands-Sugar Land metropolitan statistical area (MSA).
Cities/Communities within the EMCID
- Kingwood (partial) – Known as the “Liveable Forest,” the 14,000 acre master-planned community is located mostly in Harris County. However, a section of Kingwood in Montgomery County that is not located within the city limits of Houston is within EMCID boundaries. That area has about 4,737 residents.
- New Caney – An unincorporated community in Montgomery County. The population of the New Caney area is 25,359.
- Patton Village – The 2018 estimated population is 2,029.
- Porter – An unincorporated community in Montgomery County. Its population is estimated at 34,781.
- Roman Forest – The 2018 estimated population is 1,977.
- Splendora – The 2018 estimated population is 2,127. Splendora was named for the splendor of its trees.
- Woodbranch Village – Also known simply as “Woodbranch.” The 2018 estimated population is 1,383.
