Although his first career interest was to attend barber school, Leonard Rogers’ foray into the air conditioning and heating business field was piqued by a college career counselor and the rest is history.
Leonard first began working with an uncle in the air conditioning and heating business in 1968 and opened his own business, Let’s Mechanical, in Splendora in 1982 where it continues to be in operation under his leadership with nine full-time employees.
Through his business, Leonard continually gives back to his community and has made numerous connections throughout the year, prompting a few friends to encourage him to run for election to the EMCID Board of Directors in 2004.

“I had not heard of EMCID before, so my friend explained what it was and asked if I would be interested in running for a seat on the EMCID board,” said Leonard. “I had never run for public office and began to attend a few of the EMCID meetings before I threw my name in the hat for a seat. I didn’t expect to win, but it has been a great experience throughout the years. It is exciting to be a part of EMCID especially as new businesses continue to call this area home and we expect many more in the future.”
Leonard first served as a Director from 2004 until 2012 and was elected to his seat again in 2014 and 2018. His term expires in 2022.
Through Leonard’s tenure on the board, he has worked with his fellow board members and EMCID President/CEO Frank McCrady to bring several big businesses to EMC including several in the East Montgomery County Industrial Park and Valley Ranch Town Center.
He was also an EMCID board member when the East Montgomery County Scholarship Foundation was started and continues to assist with the East Montgomery County Fair Association every year.
“As an EMCID Director, I want to serve as a voice for those residents in the Splendora, Patton Village and Woodbranch portions of East Montgomery County, which are not always represented,” said Leonard. “We are excited to have places to eat, a movie theater and other businesses. We haven’t had anything like this and it helps our EMC communities continue to grow and expand.”
One of Leonard’s favorite things about serving as an EMCID Director is the chance to give back to nonprofit organizations among other groups serving the community.
“It is always great when we can give back to organizations like the boy scouts, girl scouts, the VFW and other nonprofits; I really wish we could do more,” said Leonard.
In addition to working and serving as an EMCID board member, Leonard enjoys golfing and fishing on Lake Livingston.
Leonard was born and raised in Alabama. He moved with his wife, Elizabeth, and their two children to Splendora in 1979. Leonard and his wife have been married for more than 54 years.
He was elected to the Position 8 seat in 2014 and was reelected in 2018 and 2022. His term expires in 2026. Rogers also served as Director, Position 1 from 2004-2012.
