Board of Directors
EMCID has eight elected positions. EMCID’s legislation states Directors serve staggered terms of four years, with four directors’ terms expiring July 1 of each even-numbered year. EMCID elections are held every two years on the first Saturday of May in accordance with the Texas Election Code. The next election will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at a location to be determined by the Montgomery County Elections Administration Office.

Filing Deadline for the May 2, 2026 Election
Filing for a place on the ballot is set by State statute. The earliest day to file an application is Wednesday, January 14, 2026, and the deadline is 5 p.m. on Friday, February 13, 2026. The deadline to file as a write-in candidate is 5 p.m. on Tuesday, February 17, 2026.

Qualifications for Candidacy
Sec. 3846.053. QUALIFICATIONS OF DIRECTOR
(a) To be qualified to serve as a director, a person must be at least 18 years old and:
(1) a district resident;
(2) an owner of real property in the district;
(3) an owner of stock, whether beneficial or otherwise, of a corporate owner of real property in the district;
(4) an owner of a beneficial interest in a trust that owns real property in the district; or
(5) an agent, employee, or tenant of a person described by Subdivision (2), (3), or (4).
(b) For purposes of this section, a person or entity that owns an interest in a general or limited partnership owning real property in the district or that has a lease of real property in the district with a remaining term of 10 years or more, excluding options, is considered to be an owner of real property.
