Two additional Community Development Grants (CDG) totaling more than $108,000 were approved by the Board of Directors at its January 8, 2015 meeting. The grant requests, for Heaven’s Army of Resources and the Splendora Softball Association, were submitted in the fall but required amendments to the original applications.
CDGs are funded twice a year to governmental entities, non-profit corporations and other organizations for projects that improve the quality of life for residents in East Montgomery County. Applicants must have at least 33 percent matching funds for their projects.
Grants
Heaven's Army of Resources - $53,000
Grant funds will provide general support and operational costs for Heaven’s Army of Resources, including for the facility and its programs. This allows the organization to use existing funds to expand its current facility by 2,500 square feet.
Splendora Softball Association - $55,110
Grant funds will go toward the construction of five softball fields, including installation of turface, sprinkler systems, dirt, bases, home plate, bleachers, fencing and dugout.
