In an emergency meeting of the Board of Directors of the East Montgomery County Improvement District, held September 4, members approved a partnership with Hometown Chef, a catering company currently based in Humble but constructing its new headquarters in New Caney, to drive into the neighborhoods worst affected by the floods following Hurricane Harvey and provide hot meals via the EMCID CAREavan.
“We’ve identified six zones in East Montgomery County where residents are struggling with cleanup efforts, and eating or figuring out how to provide meals for their families is probably the last thing on their minds,” said Frank McCrady, President and CEO.
The EMCID CAREavans, marked with Hometown Chef’s marketing wrap and magnetic signage identifying EMCID’s involvement, will target two zones a day, hitting each at least twice per week.
“We’re proud to be helping the community in this way,” said Tiffany Avila, owner of Hometown Chef. “This is what we do. We prepare food for people, and this partnership helps to restore some normalcy for us as well.”
Thank you to the Signorelli Company for helping sponsor this program!
Each morning the CAREavans’ destinations will be announced on EMCID’s facebook page, facebook.com/EMCID, and its webpage, emctx.com/recovery to let residents in those neighborhoods know good food is on the way between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.
