The East Montgomery County Improvement District (EMCID) will host Shred It EMC, a free document shredding event, on Saturday, April 1 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the EMCID Complex parking lot, located at 21575 U.S. Highway 59 North in New Caney. Shredding is a quick and convenient way to dispose of sensitive information in a manner that provides added security against identity theft — and it’s great for the environment. All shredded documents are recycled.
“Last year’s shred event was so successful we knew we needed to do it again,” said Frank McCrady, President/CEO.
Area residents and business owners dropped off about 7,500 pounds of documents at last year’s event, filling up about three-quarters of the available space in the shredding vehicle. This year’s shred day has been expanded by two hours. Vehicles should enter through Eagle Drive by the R.B. Tullis Library and drive straight back to the EMCID Complex. Vehicles will exit right onto the U.S. Highway 59 frontage road.
