The East Montgomery County Scholarship Foundation, a nonprofit subsidiary of the East Montgomery County Improvement District, selected six college students from East Montgomery County to receive its first $500 merit scholarship. The scholarship will be awarded each spring to up to 20 college students who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership and service, and financial need.

To be considered for the 2016 scholarship, applicants must:
- Have a cumulative college-level GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale for all coursework completed, regardless of institution attended.
- Have a minimum of 48 semester college-level credits completed byDecember 31, 2015.
- Be a previous recipient of EMCID/East Montgomery County ScholarshipFoundation funding.
Applications are available online and may be submitted between February 1 and March 1 each year.
