The East Montgomery County Improvement District was presented with an award Monday, March 16 at the Roman Forest Police Department’s Annual Awards and Recognition Dinner. President/CEO Frank McCrady accepted on behalf of the Board of Directors the award for EMCID’s continued support of the department through grant funding.
“The East Montgomery County Improvement District has provided funding to the Roman Forest Police Department over the last decade for various law enforcement needs that have helped keep our department in line with the county’s progression of computer-aided dispatch and the state’s communications requirements,” said Chief Stephen Carlisle. “We thank them for their support.”
In 2014, EMCID granted the department $7,563.54 to help start an animal control initiative and $1,160.31 to purchase a DWI and Distracted Driver Simulation Program, which will be used by the police department at community events, such as EMCID’s Spring Extravaganza Thursday, March 26, to help promote awareness and prevention of driving while drunk and distracted driving.
“Our commitment is to the community,” said McCrady. “We appreciate the recognition from Roman Forest, and we encourage other groups and non-profit organizations within the District’s boundaries to apply for grants, which are awarded each spring and fall.”
The deadline for the spring application for Community Development Grant funds is March 30 at 5 p.m. The application can be found at www.emctx.com/services/community-development.
