The Southern Economic Development Council (SEDC) announced that Frank McCrady, President and CEO of the East Montgomery County Improvement District (EMCID), has been elected Secretary/Treasurer of the association’s board of directors.
Through this position, McCrady will have a leadership role on the board’s executive committee and will help carry out the association’s program of work for 2019.
“SEDC has had such a positive and nurturing effect on my career and personal growth,” said McCrady. “I am happy to give back to the industry and our professional organization.”
SEDC is the oldest and largest regional economic development association in North America. It’s comprised of more than 900 members from 17 states and the District of Columbia who are involved in business and industry, utilities, transportation, financial and education institutions, chambers of commerce, and local, regional and state development agencies.
“I am excited we will have the benefit of McCrady’s leadership on our board, as we continue to expand the benefits we offer our members working to advance economic prosperity in the communities they serve,” said SEDC President Gene Stinson.
Through the election by his peers, McCrady is set to take over as Vice Chairman in 2020 and as Chairman in 2022.
With more than 30 years of experience in economic development and banking, McCrady’s leadership at EMCID has helped to increase sales tax revenue for the district by more than 300 percent, from $2.5 million in 2002 to $10.6 million in 2018.
Prior to coming to EMCID, McCrady worked in banking and economic development in Washington, D.C., Tulsa and Salt Lake City. He has an MBA from Webster University in St. Louis and an undergraduate degree from the University of Arkansas.
