General Ballistics, a California-based ammunition manufacturer founded by Vance Massih, broke ground on a 10,000 sq. ft. production facility on a 2.5-acre site on Nichols Road in New Caney within the East Montgomery County Industrial Park this week. The company will make 9 mm, .40-, .45-caliber and 5.56/.223 caliber cartridges.
Initially, the company will employ two to three people upon opening in mid-2017. The Board of Directors of the East Montgomery County Improvement District voted in April 2016 to build the facility and a qualification range in which General Ballistics will purchase through a lease-to-own agreement. The qualification range will be constructed on a 4.8-acre site behind the facility that can be used by General Ballistics and local law enforcement for training purposes.
