The Board of Directors approved at its April 14 regular meeting to build a 10,000 sq. ft. production facility and qualification range at the East Montgomery County Industrial Park and lease it to General Ballistics.

AcademyGroundbreaking325x215Construction is now vertical at the Valley Ranch Town Center in Porter. Officials with the East Montgomery County Improvement District (EMCID) and The Signorelli Company held a groundbreaking ceremony for Academy Sports + Outdoors Tuesday, April 5. Construction on the sports, outdoor and lifestyle center began a couple of weeks ago. It joins the Kroger Marketplace and Sam’s Club as anchor stores for the 1.8 million square foot mixed-use development at the Grand Parkway and Interstate 69.

The open house, which will serve as an opportunity for the public to meet Dr. Stevenson and his staff, will be held Friday, October 30 from 11 – 2 p.m. Refreshments will be provided.An Oklahoma native and graduate of Oklahoma State University, Dr. Stevenson has been in practice since 2003. After spending a year specializing in equine medicine in West Virginia, he decided to pursue opening his own small and large animal practice a little closer to home, purchasing the Big Thicket Veterinary Clinic in Cleveland, TX in 2004.

Construction is taking place adjacent to the Ashley's Texaco at U.S. Highway 59 South and Valley Ranch Crossing Drive. The Back Pew Brewing Company is renovating a former office building into a micro-brewery featuring beer lines for "saints" and "sinners." The company, founded by native Houstonian Bobby Harl — who has a Ph.D. in chemical engineering and an M.B.A., has invested over $600,000 on equipment and has a total investment of more than $1.1 million into the project.

In an effort to promote additional economic development, enhance the local tax base, and create new jobs, the East Montgomery County Improvement District will be among the more than 1,000 public officials and 35,000 retail real estate professionals who travel to Las Vegas the week of May 18 to attend RECon,the global convention sponsored by the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC).
