CDGF2016EMCID's Board of Directors presented checks to 14 agencies and organizations for 17 community development grants totaling $171,007.73. The grants were approved at the Board’s regular meeting in November. Grants are funded twice a year to governmental entities, non-profit corporations and other organizations for projects that improve the quality of life for residents in East Montgomery County.

Mini grants are available for up to $5,000 and require no match from the organization. Regular grants are available for up to $30,000. Non-profit applicants of this type of grant must have at least 33 percent matching funds for their projects; taxing entities must have at least 50 percent of matching funds.

Mini Grants ($5,000 and under)

Boy Scout Troop 1011 - $4,286.24

Grant funds will help expand the Youth Leadership Program to include high adventure experiences in rock climbing several times a year.

Boy Scout Troop 1011/Cub Scout Pack 911 - $4,381.00

Grant funds will be used to purchase a storage building for camping equipment.

Cub Scout Pack 911 - $1,882.73

Grant funds will purchase a canopy, tables, and a turkey fryer kit, which can be
used to boil large amounts of water to clean dishes.

East Montgomery County Senior Center - $5,000.00

Grant funds will be used to purchase four large TVs for the center and upgrade the
sound system.

Friends of Splendora Ag - $4,792.60

Grant funds will be used to rent sporting clay throwers and pallets of clay targets for the organization’s annual Sporting Clay Shoot fundraiser, held each October.

Heaven’s Army of Resources and Recreation Center - $5,000.00

Grant funds will purchase new toys, bicycles and food for the organization’s annual Operation Giving Heart.

Montgomery County Constable, Precinct 4 - $5,000.00

Grant funds will be used to upgrade the outboard motor for the department’s inflatable rescue boat.

Montgomery County Constable, Precinct 4 - $5,000.00

Grant funds will buy a replacement motor for the department’s 1981 “Explorer” rescue air boat.

Splendora ISD - $5,000.00

Grant funds will purchase online platform system support for Project ELL (English
Language Learners), which provides teachers and administrators student data that can help track progress and improve individualized instruction for ELL students.

Splendora ISD - $5,000.00

Grant funds will pay for A Chain Reaction Interactive Session, which is part of
Rachel’s Challenge, a program designed to promote a positive climate in K-12 schools.

Splendora ISD Police Department - $3,754.00

Grant funds will pay to replace the department’s bullet proof vests.

Grants ($5,001 - $30,000)

City of Splendora - $14,406.00

Grant funds will pay to construct a restroom facility for Heritage Park.

City of Patton Village Police Department - $29,894.50

Grant funds will be used to purchase new uniforms, body cameras, radios and non-
lethal defense options.

Friends of the R.B. Tullis Library - $6,000.00

Grant funds will purchase books, eBooks, books on CD and movies for the adult,
young adult and children’s areas.

Humble Area Assistance Ministries (HAAM) - $15,000.00

Grant funds will used within East Montgomery County to assist with food fairs and rent assistance for 12 households with at least one adult age 55 and older.

Mission Northeast - $30,000.00

Grants funds will pay to extend and improve parking on the south and west sides
of the warehouse building.

Splendora FFA Booster Club - $26,610.66

Grant funds will be used to purchase a trailer to transport student projects to the
East Montgomery County Fair as well as major shows across the state.
